another sunshiney day. and i'm loving every moment of it (that i'm not spending in the office, obviously). a breeze just started picking up as i headed outside with the camera for these pictures... and since i was wearing my twirly-billowy skirt, i was hoping the wind would pick it up and make it all flowy. that didn't happen. i kept saying "whoosh wind! whoosh!" as i was pushing my skirt out, in an attempt to tempt mother nature to realize the fun in flowing skirts. she didn't bite. so, the result, again, is a lot of twirling and flouncing around. aka me having a blast.

reading update: i've just finished Walk of the Spirits (recommended by best bud tarin, who shares the same geekfest taste that i have)... it was awesome. the sad part is the sequel isn't yet available for kobo :( so... i've gone with ashley's recommendation from a few weeks ago of Matched. just started it last night, but so far i'm really liking it!! gotta love fellow bloggers with great taste in reads :)

peach is my new neutral

i'm starting to seriously love wearing peach. at first, it was as an accent colour... but now?? it's one of my favourite neutrals! i've recently noticed a lot of peach pieces in my closet, and it's something i tend to pair with patterns and/or colours (see here, here, here and here). i'm tempted to call it my new beige.

i'm very extremely mucho wanting to order this top from ruche (i've wish-listed in a previous post as well)... i'm currently TRYING not to shop, on a need-to-buy-only basis. and actually need, not want... so far so good, but let's face it, i haven't been trying for too long. i do believe a second, thicker peach cardigan would be beneficial as a summer essential... but i'm scared if i buy this, my willpower will go crashing...

and did you notice?? i'm outside in a sleeveless dress!! yep, the weather is finally warming up!! (for a warmer look for this dress, see here). mind you i did still wear it with a cardigan and tights to work... but it was actually nice enough out that i could have just worn the dress. exciting, i know.

fyi: i may possibly have taken the most goofy looking picture of myself ever tonight. i'll definitely be posting it thursday for awkward and awesome...

awkward:

- the way i paint... and stick out my tongue while concentrating. and getting made fun of for both.

- working in excel, clicking the cell i want to put numbers in, then pressing the numbers on my desk calculator... and being VERY confused as to why the numbers aren't appearing in said cell. lack of sleep...

- going to rent a dvd at a local store (read: small town), and having someone ask my boyfriend 'is that your daughter?"... yea, he's a year older than i am... so... he looks old?? i look young?? hmmm...

- searching online and at every store for the perfect boyfriend watch... after weeks of searching... finding THE PERFECT watch... ordering it, getting it, loving it. two months later, seeing it in the new sears catalogue. well, less awkward, more annoying.

awesome:

- trivia night tonight!

- my favourite take out (culligans) just opened today!! and i had it for a lunch date!! double awesomeness!!

- being told: "wow, you look really pretty" at 7:30 am... yea. it's nice. :)

my new dress... which arrived tuesday in the mail. i was EXCITED. i almost bought this exact dress in navy a few times... but then ruche posted a sneak peek picture for the newest lookbook, which featured this dress. i thought it looked to be the same silhouette as the navy one, so i held off... and boy am i glad i did, because this beauty is perfect for spring. and the best part?? guess... seriously, just guess... give up? it TWIRLS! (although the twirling picture isn't posted, because i kept hitting/catching the grass).

sorry for all the links... but seriously, it just helps add to my little dress story.

so tuesday i was wanting to wear my new favourite outfit, but it was a tad cool out for short sleeves... so here's my warm, cozy version of the outfit!! love it. this cardigan was one of my favourite purchases from ruche. it just seems to go with everything. or i just love it so much that i make it work with every outfit possible! hehe i would LOVE to find it in more colours. and basically, i now think all cardigans should have lace details on them.

ps: i got my nails done tuesday night!! it was less than three weeks... but it came at a perfect time because i did a number on them painting last weekend. i was originally planning on a peach with mint sparkles 'v' style... but she had a new summer pattern, and i just HAD to try it. the result?? see below :)

so pretty... and yes, it's all done by hand. she's basically amazing.

i don't know what was up with me today! i was pretty giddy and goofy all day! i blame it on the outfit. because i just loooved wearing this today. comfortable, fun and playful. i'm learning that my fave outfits are ones that are vintage inspired (of course), girly and playful, with a romantic touch. when i finally get an outfit to include all of these qualities, it's like a second skin.

spring wish list

my spring wish list is fairly short. after going through my closet yesterday, i've discovered lots of outfits i forgot i owned, but still totally love. so, my spring wish list is a summery cardigan, a lovely floral ring, a vintagey floral necklace, another pair of green shorts (that would hopefully fit), and this awesome vintagey skirt, which i've been eyeing for weeks, and it just came to ruche! (same skirt, better shipping rates!). as you can see, i'm sticking with my staples: peach, green, and florals. so predictable.

not sure if i'll make the order, because i'm clamping down on the shopping... summer is around the corner, and i'd rather spend money on getaways and activities, instead of adding more clothes to my closet.

happy sunday dreaming! (because that's what lazy sundays are for).

for the love of... CLOTHES

this story begins with an awesome outfit i bought last year:

pretty, isn't it? i bought the blouse, shorts, and a similar belt. i LOVE this outfit.
now...
let's skip ahead to today. i decided to make use of this saturday,
and clean out my weardrobe, and organize my closet. i do this seasonally,
so that my closet is 'easy access' to my fave outfits for the season.

so let's begin:
readers, meet my closet:

(excuse the lack of door knobs, they were ugly, i removed them, and didn't actually get around to replacing them... oopsie!)

now, meet the inside of my closet!

i'm slightly obsessed with shoes. but shoes aren't our topic today...
so, cardis and workwear on the left, dresses and summerwear on the right

now, meet tall dresser

tanks, tops, hoodies, and jeans/shorts...

now, in the long dresser... comfy tees... which apparently i've been wearing too often.

and my exercise drawers, which apparently haven't been getting enough use.
that's about to change.

well i tried them on tonight. not that it's warm enough to wear them.
but just to plan some new outfits.
and do you know what i found????

they do not fit. like not even close. how. the heck. did that happen??
ugh.
so, now, starting tomorrow i'll be exercising daily (again, which i've stopped doing, which i think is the cause to the problem with these shorts), and i won't be 'dieting', but i will be reducing my carbs (because i'm slightly addicted), and junk.
it helps that my hunny is also going to join in with the 'get fit' attitude with me. and he'll keep me motivated. yay!

so on that note, i'll be posting a picture of me in my shorts, when i actually fit in them again.
