For those of you who didn't notice my absence in the past week plus, I've been off getting hitched! I want to say a huge thanks to all the ladies who took the time to guest post while I was planning, getting married, and relaxing. I loved each of their posts (I'm finally getting around to reading them and getting caught up on my favourite bloggers!). So Sara, Kristian, Sammi, Katie & Amanda, and Katie, thank you for taking the time to guest post for me!
Now... the wedding! I'm only going to do a little post about the day, with my instagram photos. I really want to share the special details once I have the photos from the photographer to share!
As I've mentioned already, we opted for a small and intimate wedding. Immediate family only were invited, which meant a total of 18 of us! It was nice to get to spend time with each guest and talk with them. We had the wedding in our backyard, with the ceremony being held under a flowering crab tree that's almost directly in the middle of the yard! We had a tent in case it rained (which thankfully, it didn't!!), and we also had the meal under the tent. We filled the tent with antique furniture and accessories, and it had a warm, cozy feel. It actually felt like an extension of our house rather than a tent! My boss actually owns the largest antique shop in the Maritimes (Antique's Plus!), and he generously gave us free reign to use anything in his store for the wedding! He made my dream come true. Our day looked exactly as I had envisioned it!
A ceremony under the tree, a mimosa bar while getting ready...
Dominic's sister was my Maid of Honour. I absolutely loved getting to spend the day with her getting ready. She's so full of positive, bubbly energy. I also had a visit from one of our best friends! She stopped in while we were getting ready and spent a couple of hours with us at the house. She even tattooed our ring fingers the night before as a wedding gift.
We said our vows under the tree, and during every moment, I was just spilling over with love and happiness (and tears... lots and lots of happy tears).
Naturally, we incorporated motorcycles into the wedding! And we also used our neighbour's mint green vintage car for some photos!
First selfie as a married couple:
After the wedding, we took a few days to ourselves. We were going to go on a little road trip, but opted instead to head to the family cottage. The weather was so gorgeous (read: HOT), that we wanted a beach close by!
Early morning swims and coffee while listening to the waves. It was bliss.
Monday we headed to Carleton, Quebec for a little drive. We ate supper, had some whiskey-lemonades, briefly hit the beach there, and made our way back to the cottage. He even let me corrupt the roadglide with some Just Married-ness!!
It was a perfect few days, and I'm still on my newly-wed high. I know everyone says how special your wedding day is, and while we were both excited, we honestly didn't expect it to be as magical as it was. I can't wait to share more of the details with you once we have the photographs!!

ReplyDeleteThat looks like it was really intimate and special! Congrats! Also yay for your boss letting you use that furniture. Also I love that your cake had so much color to it, I feel like some people are afraid to do that.
