Snap Happy!

This dress is the cutest dress. The colours in it scream autumn, which is perfect because it's a tad on the short side, so without tights it definitely wouldn't be in my comfort zone.

dress: modcloth (borrowed from Melissa)
tights: walmart

Before the honeymoon, I was having some packing issues... I couldn't decide what to bring, and so Melissa generously offered up her closet to me. I borrowed more than I took, such as this dress... while it's super cute, it didn't feel "honeymoon-ish", and as I mentioned, I definitely wouldn't be able to wear it without tights. So it stayed here in my closet... but while it didn't make the honeymoon, it's definitely making the blog.

She actually has this dress up on her swap board, and I have to admit, I'm about ready to offer to buy it off her hands. I hesitated because of how short it is, but it's definitely fun with tights, and with the colours in it, it'd be so fun to mix up with different colours!

Swinging the Day Away...

We have this little playground close to our house. Sadly, in over two years of living in our home, this is my first time at the playground. I suppose it's justified, seeing as we don't have kids, but sometimes being a big kid is a must. Dominic decided to go skateboarding at the park, so I thought that'd be a fun change for the blog!

romper: forever 21 (old)
belt: from a dress
sunglasses: amazon
necklace: gift

This romper is one of my favourite summer outfits. I wear it all.the.time. Usually when we're going to the cottage or beach, with a swimsuit under it. I can't believe this is the first time I'm posting it! It's a bit more 70s that I normally wear, especially paired with the Swedish Hasbeens, so I tried to 50s-it-up a bit with the sunglasses and flower. Normally I wear it with a bandana, which also gives it a more pinup feel.

I have to say, I feel like I've been posting only wedding-ish stuff lately! First my shoes, now these sunnies... not to mention wearing this necklace in both recent posts, which was a wedding gift from Dominic! (I'll have to post a better photo of it soon, it's SO pretty!). It's nice to be able to use some of my wedding day items again, but even more so, to wear them at all! I had them for so long, just waiting to be worn on the big day. I'm not one to buy something and set it aside. I almost always wear new items immediately. So it feels like eons that I've been waiting to wear my new stuff and share them!! I know I should probably hold off posting them, so that everything is that much more special when I show the wedding portraits... but that'll still be another month or two. I can't possibly be expected to wait that long, can I??

Victory! (rolls) A Limited Edition Dress!

I scored this ah-may-zing dress from a shopmycloset on instagram. $15!! It's a limited edition Heartbreaker Fashion (now Heart of Haute) dress. I can't believe my luck, finding this like-new dress in my size for such a sweet deal.  This was also my first attempt at victory rolls.  I had some time today to attempt a new hairstyle, and Amelia of Junebugs and Georgia Peaches had posted a tutorial not too long ago, so I figured I'd give it a whirl.  She's not kidding, her tutorial is definitely the easy to follow!  It's definitely one of the more daring hairstyles I've tried, and while I like it, I'll definitely have to get used to it! I think it's my bangs that are making me hesitant, but with the wedding coming up, I'm scared to trim them.

Cacti & raspberries...

I'm not going to lie... becoming a member of the Flock Together ladies definitely has it's perks! Getting to style new outfits without actually buying new items? Brilliant! It's especially fun when you get to try out styles that are out of your comfort zone.  When I spotted this top from Dus, I had to try it out. It was just so fun! Well, let me tell you, it was torture sending it back. I'm regretting that I didn't buy it from her fair trade shop, Mitla Moda.  It's so breezy! It would be amazing on hot days with a nice breeze.

skirt: Ruche
belt: Forever 21

When I styled this outfit and looked in the mirror, I immediately thought of a lady gardening, or shopping for flowers. Hence the photos in our raspberry bushes. They're finally starting to bud.  Spring is so late here this year, with the long winter we had.  And as you can spot in the background, Dominic has been a busy bee the last few weeks.  We purchased that parcel of land in January. It used to be filled with trees and shrubs, but he's been working hard to clear it out so it will become more useful for us.  I'm definitely looking forward to an extended backyard.  We'll eventually hang some hammocks, and make it a relaxing place to be!

Cheating on my wedding...

Hey all! So as the title says, I'm kind of cheating on my wedding with this post.  When Sammi offered up this dress for the Flock Together gals, I had to have it. It's so amazing, I've actually been on the hunt for it's blouse version for some time, it is a Bernie Dexter after all! But the problem was that she styled it so perfectly, I was worried about not being able to get creative with it.  Then I realized, it would go perfectly with my blue shoes, coat... and hat!

dress: borrowed from Sammi
coat: lulu's
pearls: gift from Dominic
hat: vintage (etsy)

I was also a little hesitant about the hat. It's the first pill box hat I've owned, so I wasn't quite sure how to wear it, if it looked okay... But after trying it out for these photos, I'm definitely feeling a lot more secure about wearing it on my wedding day.

It's also my first official remix post over on Flock Together, so I felt like it had to be a good one, and this hat just made the outfit so perfect, I couldn't resist! Pop over and check out the post, and see how some of the other gals have styled this dress!

Pies and aprons...

My outfits this week are very inspired for my blue swedish hasbeens mimmi's.  I'm just dying to be able to wear these out and about, especially without tights. We're definitely a far cry from that, seeing as there's still mounds and mounds of snow... but with the mild temperatures we've been having, I'm definitely in the no-tights spirit.

dress: modcloth
shoes: swedish hasbeens via amazon
flower: vintage box 1947
apron: vintage

This dress always makes me wish I had a fresh homemade pie to show off in the pictures. I'm not much of a pie baker, which is strange because I love pies. I just tend to stick to cookies and cakes.  However, even with not having a pie to show-off, I still felt the need to take some photos of this dress in my kitchen.

And while doing so, I discovered how sweet this apron looks with the dress! I swear, that apron just makes me wish I was a stay-at-home housewife, who bakes all day in pretty little dresses and red lipstick!
