Getaway Outfit...

We've had two huge snow storms this past weekend, and I'm dressed like it's summer. Another few months, and I'll actually be able to wear this outfit outdoors! I blame this outfit on the purse. I've been loving it paired with black and red, so I keep trying to find new outfits to style it with. I guess it's the perfect Getaway outfit for the Getaway purse!

We've been house-bound since Thursday night. Friday, both of our offices were closed due to the storm. It worked out in our favour, because we've both been so sick we couldn't venture out. It's been a very couch potato-y weekend. Today, we're both feeling much better... but it's storming again. I think we had about 35cm of snow Friday, and another 30cm today. Our cars are hidden under mounds of snow. And so commences the shoveling (thank goodness I have Dominic!).

Leopard Print Love...

This is a first for me. Animal print, that is.  I've never actually liked animal print, even though leopard print definitely is a classic print.  That being said, for some reason, the Prowl Be There shirt really caught my eye. It seemed like a really great shirt for jeans or a skirt, and I decided to go with my instinct and order it.  As you can see, it's a keeper.

The peplum (which is currently tucked in to my high-waisted skirt) is at the perfect spot, where it actually hits your real waist and doesn't flow out too high and make you look frumpy... which I find most peplums to do.  It's a bit more daring in the cleavage than the photo depicts on the modcloth website... but it's great for a night out and easily corrected with a tank top under or a cardi over!

I saved this outfit for my Friday post, because it just seems like a fabulous Friday night outfit. Especially paired with my lux de ville bag for a bit of pop! It's definitely made small, so I took the advice and sized up. Thank goodness I did! There's no zipper, so any smaller and I would not have been able to squeeze it on. However, once it's on, it fits like a glove. The fabric is a nice, thick fabric that is so flattering!

Pair the leopard print with some red accessories and lipstick, and it makes for a great Valentine's outfit! From day to night, with a cardigan. 

Vinyl Twirls...

Last week, I received the best ModCloth order. The shirt, the skirt, the bandana... They are all so amazing, and go so well together!

This was the essential elegance skirt that I originally wanted, but opted for the blue when it was on sale.  I finally splurged and ordered this one a few weeks ago, and I'm so excited about it.  Obviously I knew how it fit and looked on, but the black version just makes so many new outfit options! I'm excited to try switching it up with items already in my closet.

This bandana is also great for when you want just a single fold look.  It has wires in it, so it makes styling and knotting so easy! I'm sure it's going to come in handy for those days that I need something to spruce up a messy hair day... especially in the summer when I'm out on the bike. Bangs and helmets do not mix, so bandanas are a great option when you take the helmet off!

The print on this shirt is so amazing. There's also a dress in the same fabric, but it didn't have the same vintage feel as this shirt. The collar on it is so perfect, and just a little bit daring.  I already paired it a different way for a more casual night out this past weekend, which I'll be sure to share on the blog in another post. I feel like it's the perfect to shirt to wear out when trying to find some new vinyl to add to the collection! It might bring good luck :)

A happy coincidence...

Happy coincidence: when you fluke realize you have all these items that just match perfectly. THEN you pair them together, and bam! New favourite outfit.  That, my friends, is a happy coincidence.  And this is definitely a new favourite outfit.

It occurs to me that both of my favourite, best match "shirts" for this skirt are, in fact, dresses. If you haven't thought about using a dress as a shirt, you definitely should. It's an easy, cheap way to create new outfits with old pieces, and switch up your go-to looks.  

I bought this skirt last year from modcloth when it was on sale.  I'd been eyeing the Essential Elegance skirts for a while, but they're pretty pricey for a skirt, so I had a hard time taking the plunge and ordering one. When this one came on sale, I figured it was a perfect chance to see if I really did like the style.  I instantly loved it, and was kicking myself for hesitating and not ordering the black, which was the one I originally wanted.  Well, I finally ordered the black.  I'm so looking forward to it, I've already started planning what I'll wear with it! 

In the end, sometimes being hesitant on buying an item pays off. Especially when you decide to purchase the colour you wouldn't normally buy, just because it's cheaper... because now I have a really fun blue skirt, that I normally wouldn't have chosen to buy.

I received this dress for Christmas last year. And last year at this time, this dress was one of my go-to, everyday dresses. It's funny how an item you loved so much can get pushed to the 'back of the closet', so to speak. I still love it, but I feel like I've worn it so many times, there's no way left to be creative with it. I've paired it with navy, gray, brown, red... but then I realized that I didn't actually get around to blogging it with my red cardigan, which was my favourite accessory with it. So here it is. I did switch up the tights though: plain gray tights swapped out for gray lace-fishnets. And my red chelsea crews swapped for my mint ione's.

Mint and red are two of my favourite colours. And paired together, in my opinion, are perfection. I'm not sure if it's just me and my love for mint green, but I really can't think of a colour that it doesn't go well with! How do you pair your mints??

Reds and Whites...

Obviously, I love red. Love. Red dresses, red shoes, red lipstick, red hair! This dress is the best red polka dot dress. It's so flirty, and it feels like a dream on. It's so perfect on it's own that I feel minimally accessorizing it is the best option.  In fact, the last time I posted this dress, it was the exact same outfit as I'm posting now.

I've been putting off posting this dress again, because I recently ordered some new flowers for my hair. While they should be in soon, I just couldn't hold off posting this dress any longer.  It's been on my "planned" list for a few weeks, and it just seems like I pull it out every week for the purpose of posting it, and then I put it back. I just couldn't seem to do that this time. 

 While I've only posted this dress twice, I've actually worn it quite a few times. Especially over the holiday season. I wore it to the first Christmas Party that we hosted. It just seemed like the perfect hostess dress! It also comes in a black polka dot version, and I have to admit, I'm really tempted to order it. It's such an old glamorous feel when you wear it, I definitely think the black would give the same feel! 

Jeans and Bettie Page Bangs...

Two 'new' things: Jeans (which I rarely wear) and Bettie Page bangs.  First up: Jeans. I have two go-to pairs of jeans. Both Karaoke Songstress Jeans from modcloth, in different colours. They're high waisted and stretchy... which just results in double comfiness. And perfect for on the motorcycle. I rarely wear jeans. As you know, I much prefer dresses, and they really are my everyday wear.  Except in the summer. I tend to wear jeans almost every day, because we spend so much time on the motorcycle.  However, I bought this shirt about  a year ago, and I was yet to post it on the blog! It's retro, and has flamingos! And it's SO flattering on.  I rarely wear it because 1. I rarely wear jeans, and 2. I didn't have any pink or blue shoes... which I felt it needed.  Well, I recently bought these bait shoes (half price!) so it was time to pull out this shirt! I definitely need to pick up a skirt for it though.

Next up: Bettie Page bangs. I was contemplating cutting them for a few weeks. Since the summer, I've been pin curling them, which resulted in them being well above my eyebrows, either curled under, or pushed to the side. So I decided to finally take the plunge and just cut them. I'm super loving the look, but I'm still getting the hang of styling them so they actually look straight. Overall, I think they'll be sticking around for a while :)

And on a side note: Wishing a huge happy birthday to the love of my life!! We celebrated with some good friends on the weekend, and we're off to celebrate with our families tonight. While I wish you the happiest of birthdays, know that I'm over the moon that I get to spend these milestones with you.
