Our Wedding Part One: Getting Ready

After an amazing two weeks in Europe on our honeymoon, we got home late last night! Our wedding pictures were here waiting for us, so it was one of the first things we did this morning while settling back into reality... look through the photos of our day!

We didn't do the traditional "groom and bride spend the night separately"... That just isn't us, and I liked the idea of waking up together knowing it was our wedding day. Mid morning though, we went our separate ways to get ready. Dominic went to the cottage and got ready with the fellas, while I picked up my Maid-of-Honour and now sister-in-law and we went to get our hair done. We had our makeup done here at the house afterwards, with some mimosas :)

At first, I thought I wanted a long lace dress... then a short lace dress once I thought about how difficult it would be to walk in a field of grass with a long lace dress. When looking online for my lace dress, I found this one, and I loved it immediately. It suited the theme and tone of our wedding, and it had the lace detail at the bottom. It was perfect.

From the start, I knew I wanted these shoes. Our ceremony and reception were held in our back yard, so the "Home Sweet Home" was just so perfect. They were a design from a few years ago though, and were a complete challenge to find. A few weeks before the wedding, I received notification from a worker from Miss L Fire in the US stating they were back in stock in the green. I ordered them immediately, and they were my wedding shoes.

Letters and love notes are kind of 'our thing'... we've left each either love notes from the very beginning when we first started dating, post it notes everywhere... that hasn't diminished in the past 2+ years. Dominic even proposed to me in a handwritten letter... so it just seemed natural for us to write each other a letter to read before we'd see each other and say our vows...

On me: dress: Dolly Couture Beverlywood, shoes: Miss L Fire, necklace: gift, veil: local shop, flower: etsy, hat: vintage, earrings: kate spade. On him: vest & shirt: asos, tie: forever 21, jeans: levi's, belt: custom made by anvil customs, belt buckle: custom made, boots: doc martens.
