Leaves & Pumpkins, Oh My!

Leaves! Pumpkins! Crisp air!! Oh my! And blurry photos because it's getting dark out early... apologies. It looks like it's back to taking a weeks worth of blog photos on the weekends again if I want to stick with outdoor photos! (and I do, for as long as the weather permits!).

petticoat: american apparel

Two things I'm realizing while looking at these posts: 1. I lost weight and definitely need to have this dress altered! Yikes! 2. I need a longer petticoat.  I've actually realized this some time ago, but I didn't get around to ordering one. I had planned on solving that problem when I ordered one for my wedding... but I didn't order one. My dress had enough built in that an extra petticoat wasn't needed, and with the hustle and bustle this past summer, I just didn't get around to it. Definitely a must-do.

This is the first time I wear a petticoat with this dress. I find it's such a 40's style dress that a petticoat isn't needed. However, I spotted this dress (different colour) on a website with a very full petticoat under it, giving it more of a 50's look, so I thought I'd try it out. While I do like (albeit with a longer petticoat), I do prefer it without. And I have to say, part of the reason I love this dress is the way the skirt swooshes when I walk. It didn't do that with a petticoat under.

Horsies & Hell Bunny...

Fall has arrived, and so did the perfect spring dress... so I went against my seasonal nature and wore a lilac dress when it's clearly fall.  I have to say though, maybe this dress is inspiring the weather... because the past few days, it has been hot!

There seems to be something about hell bunny dresses and horses. I tend to share my blog posts with my neighbouring horses on days that I'm posting hell bunny dresses! Jake tends to love spotlight though! He sees a camera and he comes right over!

See you in September!

As I look at these pictures, I'm thinking I *may* have made a mistake. I got this dress in a swap. I love the style of it, with the little bolero jacket. When I saw it up for swap in my size, I had to jump on it. The problem is that I have a dress in the same fabric already. While I love mint green and polka dots (especially together!), two similar dresses just weren't practical. I debated which I should put up for swap... and this was the one that went. I'm too attached to my other dress to give it up, and really, it's one I wear often. I wasn't sure how much wear I would get out of this one with the jacket.

I opted to swap this dress for another hell bunny dress in a more practical style, and a different colour. While I'm sad to see this one go (but happy I opted to take some pictures in it before sending it out!), I'm excited for the other dress to arrive. It's in lilac, which is such a spring and summer colour, I'm hoping to get a chance to at least wear it once before autumn really hits!

I will say this... after looking at these pictures, I absolutely love the style of this dress. While I still think my decision to swap it was a good one because of the colour, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this dress in another colour.  I absolutely love it in the blue and the black

So this is it folks, my last post before we venture out on our honeymoon! In my little two week hiatus, I'll definitely be taking lots of photos to share with you when we return! As The Tempos said, See you in September!

Fireweeds & Flowers in my Hair...

This is one of my favourite dresses. It was one of the first "pricier" dresses I treated myself to. I tried to wait for it to come on sale, and it just didn't seem in my favour. Finally, one day, I splurge and hit the checkout button. I've posted it a few different times, but really, I wear it often. It's a dress that I don't like in the winter, because it's so long and flowy, I feel that tights ruin the look of it. And it's so great on it's own that I rarely add much to accessorize it... maybe a belt, maybe a brooch... a cardigan if it's cold.

Today was one of the days I felt the need to post it. I still didn't really remix it compared to my usual styling, but I did opt for a couple of purple orchids in my hair and pink lipstick. When I mentioned wanting to post some photos of it on my blog, Dominic immediately spotted these wild fireweeds in our backyard and said how they'd go perfectly with my hair-flowers. He's such a smartie!

He was absolutely right. The flowers not only matched my hair flower, but perfectly complimented the green of the dress. I had a lot of fun posing in the tall flowers... even with the abundance of bees around me. I just want to put on all of my pastel, flowy dresses and go walk through these flowers!

An awkward remix...

This dress was a little Christmas treat to myself.  I've only posted it once, but I actually wear it quite often.  It's one of those dresses that I'm not good at remixing.  I feel like adding a cardigan takes away from look of the dress instead of adding to it.  I did attempt it today, with a lace and pearl cardigan, but even still, I prefer it on it's own.

I actually have the perfect new shoes for this dress... but I bought them as my "second shoes" for the wedding, so I'm not wearing them until the wedding. Afterwards, they'll definitely be a staple with this dress.

You can't tell in these photos, but this dress does an amazing twirl.  It's a really light and flowy fabric, so the twirl is a low trumpet style twirl.  I'm tempted to purchase some of the new Spring & Summer hell bunny dresses because they look similar in style/fabric as this one.

Do you have any dresses that you have a hard time remixing? I'd love to hear suggestions!
