Winter Wednesday: 4

Welcome back to Winter Wednesday! I know I missed the third, but with Monday's "Merry Monday" post, technically we're back on track with the fourth Christmas Outfit post! You may recognize this dress from an earlier post. It was my bachelorette dress. I have to say, this dress was a great purchase! I almost didn't order it, thinking it would be too fancy for a bachelorette party (it wasn't), but I've worn it a few times since! It's so easy to dress up or down for events! I'm very tempted to order another Ophelia dress in either a pattern or another colour. As impractical as it would be with the other choices, the gold version would make a fabulous holiday dress!!

dress: Lindy Bop
belt: forever 21 (old)
shoes: Ruche (old)
brooch: luxulite

The girlies wanted to make a Christmas appearance on the blog. Sadie Diamond (on the left) is our newest family member. I'll do an official write up on her soon. It's an emotional one, and I haven't had the courage yet to share the story. And Lucy (right) is our lovable "Garfield-ette" kitty.

Ivory, green and gold is one of my favourite holiday combinations. I have this belt and shoes from a previous holiday outfit, which I paired with an ivory Heartbreaker dress. Sometimes it feels like such a splurge to buy event-specific items, but I almost always manage to wear everything again. This outfit is entirely made up of past-event-splurges!

I had to tough it out and wear this outside for some snow pictures. I love ivory, aka 'winter white' with a snowy backdrop. It definitely helps out the overall Holiday look.

An adventurous purse...

So basically, these photos are terrible. I'm fully aware. My porch has the best sunlight, but it's not heated, so it's freezing out there. Dominic was busy, so I had to use the timer on my camera, which isn't so bad, except that my first round of photos were completely blurry and not focused on me. So after I warmed up, I went back out to attempt these pictures again. And lo and behold, they aren't the greatest angle.  My dress is also bunched up at the top. However, I'm set on posting these photos of my new purse, so here they are.

dress: lindy bop
purse: lux de ville

Who would've known a purse could turn into such a hassle? I ordered it from Lux de Ville, paid the $20 for international shipping, and sat here, (im)patiently waiting for this awesome purse to arrive. This purse had quite an adventure. It was delivered to the wrong house, after I paid the outrageous customs and brokerage fees of course.  The person was kind enough to return it, and it was finally in my hands! It was worth the wait, and the hassle, because it's so gorgeous in person. And this coming from a person who doesn't normally like sparkles and glitter! It has a perfect retro look, and I'm completely tempted to order the mint green one now.

Reds and Whites...

Obviously, I love red. Love. Red dresses, red shoes, red lipstick, red hair! This dress is the best red polka dot dress. It's so flirty, and it feels like a dream on. It's so perfect on it's own that I feel minimally accessorizing it is the best option.  In fact, the last time I posted this dress, it was the exact same outfit as I'm posting now.

I've been putting off posting this dress again, because I recently ordered some new flowers for my hair. While they should be in soon, I just couldn't hold off posting this dress any longer.  It's been on my "planned" list for a few weeks, and it just seems like I pull it out every week for the purpose of posting it, and then I put it back. I just couldn't seem to do that this time.

While I've only posted this dress twice, I've actually worn it quite a few times. Especially over the holiday season. I wore it to the first Christmas Party that we hosted. It just seemed like the perfect hostess dress! It also comes in a black polka dot version, and I have to admit, I'm really tempted to order it. It's such an old glamorous feel when you wear it, I definitely think the black would give the same feel!

if you're a bird, i'm a bird...

i stumbled upon this dress a few weeks ago, and my first thought was how it reminded me of something Ally would wear in The Notebook.  i think it's for that reason that i wanted it so badly.  not to mention that i love the style from the 30s and 40s.  i held off buying it, because it's from the UK, and the shipping was pretty pricey.  not to mention i already have two (1, 2) red and white polka dot dresses in my closet.  i even tried to convince myself to buy the black one instead... but it just didn't have that 'ally' style to it that appealed to me instantly.

on another note, i have a work event coming up this month.  i had ordered a blue one shoulder maxi dress for the event, thinking it would be appropriate. and it was. but man, was it ever not 'me'.  i just felt so out of place in it.  so, i sent that back. that meant i needed to find something relatively quickly, that i knew would be my style, since i wouldn't have time to exchange it or replace it.  i thought a black swing dress would do the trick.  so after looking online, i found one for a great price.  from the same brand as this dress! perfect. i can order both dresses without the cost of shipping increasing (i swear, the black dress really was a great price!).  and so, that's how i came to get this dress in my hands.

this dress is so comfortable.  the fabric is so smooth, and it just falls so nicely from the hips.  it's one of those dresses that you feel great in, both because of the look and the comfort of it.  and one can never have too many red and white polka dot dresses, am i right?? ;)
