Flamingo-craze

Clearly, this is the week of my bait Dennise blue shoes. While it's purely coincidental, it's funny how that happens almost every week, having one of the items make an appearance almost each day.

I was almost tempted to purchase some pink shoes for this shirt... and for my flamingo dress... but I'm really liking this shirt with these blue shoes. I'm not sure how often I'd wear pink shoes, aside from with my flamingo outfits, so really, finding options already in my closet seems like the logical way to go. Pairing both outfits with orchids in my hair seems to be as pink as I can go anyhow.

When I was in New Orleans last fall, I found a string of lights with plastic flamingos over the bulbs... I debated buying them just because they were so kitch, but opted for the gingerbread houses instead for Christmas. I'm not regretting not buying them. I'm still facing my original problem: where I'd actually hang them... but they would be SO perfect with my flamingo outfits! Is it wrong that I'm tempted to buy plastic lawn flamingos??

Nautical Rope & PolkaDots...

In keeping with my Bernie Dexter remix week, here's another of my dresses.  This was a little treat for myself, as it was on sale (originally styled here).  I normally wear this with a cardigan over it, being Miss Modest that I am.

I said it in my original post of this dress, and I'm saying it again now, the top of this dress is so flattering.  I'm really hoping to add more of this style to my closet in different colours and patterns (because it's not like a girl can have too many dresses!).

Sundaes & PolkaDots...

I've discovered the trick for taking blog pictures in the winter: taking an abundance of them on weekends, while you're home in the daylight.  For that reason, last weeks photos all had similar hairstyles.  That's repeated in this week's, and will probably be the case until the days start getting longer again.

I've decided that this week's posts will be a remix of my Bernie Dexter dresses.  They're some of my favourite dresses in my closets, from the fun patterns, to the flattering cuts, to the full circle skirts that are just so fun to layer with petticoats!

This was my first Bernie Dexter purchase.  It was a splurge, at full price (!!!), but I'm so happy I splurged when I did.  I've worn it on several date nights, including my birthday (original outfit posts 1 & 2).  I love how fun and flirty I feel in it.  I also love how the top of the dress is a solid red fabric, instead of the full sundae print version.  Red is one of my favourite colours to wear, and I feel that if I had gotten the full sundae print version, I'd be more apt to pair it with creams, yellows or browns, which while they'd be fun and pretty, I just feel like the red urges me to add more reds to it.

if you're a bird, i'm a bird...

i stumbled upon this dress a few weeks ago, and my first thought was how it reminded me of something Ally would wear in The Notebook.  i think it's for that reason that i wanted it so badly.  not to mention that i love the style from the 30s and 40s.  i held off buying it, because it's from the UK, and the shipping was pretty pricey.  not to mention i already have two (1, 2) red and white polka dot dresses in my closet.  i even tried to convince myself to buy the black one instead... but it just didn't have that 'ally' style to it that appealed to me instantly.

on another note, i have a work event coming up this month.  i had ordered a blue one shoulder maxi dress for the event, thinking it would be appropriate. and it was. but man, was it ever not 'me'.  i just felt so out of place in it.  so, i sent that back. that meant i needed to find something relatively quickly, that i knew would be my style, since i wouldn't have time to exchange it or replace it.  i thought a black swing dress would do the trick.  so after looking online, i found one for a great price.  from the same brand as this dress! perfect. i can order both dresses without the cost of shipping increasing (i swear, the black dress really was a great price!).  and so, that's how i came to get this dress in my hands.

this dress is so comfortable.  the fabric is so smooth, and it just falls so nicely from the hips.  it's one of those dresses that you feel great in, both because of the look and the comfort of it.  and one can never have too many red and white polka dot dresses, am i right?? ;)
