I know I've been MIA for the past week.  It's been quite a week.  Two migraines, and back-to-college later, I'm finally getting in a blog post.  That's right, back to college.  These are not words I thought I'd be saying again.  It's been almost 9 years to the day since I graduated college, and yes, a few years ago I did think about going back to school for a teaching degree, it's something I chose not to do, and lucked out with a great job in my home-town area, which is what I wanted.

Lo and behold, back to school I go.  It's only one day a week, and it's for work.  My boss approached me, asking if I would be interested in learning some Graphic Design.  I won't have a diploma or certificate, because I'm only taking two classes once a week for ten weeks.  I'll still learn a lot though, and it should be enough for what our goal is for me.

Last week was my first week, and yes, I was stressed about it.  I think I was the only person in the class over 19.  And if I'm not, the others are still early 20s, so yes, I felt out of place.  That being said, the classes themselves were interesting, and I'm eager to learn more.

The classes are in Fredericton, which is about 350km from me. So I drive down Wednesday for the night, attend classes Thursday, and drive home.  It's not as bad as it sounds.  Being from a small town, trips like these are often a weekend activity.  Drive someplace for a night or two.  Sometimes, it's even a day trip.  Mind you I'm sure by week 10 I'll have had enough of the driving.

I'm no newbie to Fredericton either.  It's where I started university, right out of high school.  I didn't finish that degree (nursing), but Fredericton is definitely a city I loved living in.  And it's nice, because not only is it familiar, but I still have quite a few friends there, so it'll make the weekly trips that much more fun.

So in the upcoming weeks, expect some chat of school and homework, because these are both 'new' topics for me and chances are I'll be looking forward to sharing these experiences.
