maiden braids...

i love my long hair. really i do. but some days, i'm just not in the mood to deal with styling it.  or having it in my face all day.  i had one of those days last week. the great thing about braids is they hold the hair back all day, and it looks like it took a lot of time and effort to do your hair. actuality? it takes just a few short minutes.

i know, mine are pretty messy.  this is the result of a monday though.  they were much neater at the start of the day.  the tricky part to a wrap around braid is when you have to switch hands.  my tendancy is to braid backwards, which ends up unbraiding what i've already done.  i'm better at braiding from left to right, with my right hand as being the 'lead hand'.  my trick? i have a full length mirror in my closet, so i open my door and angle it so i can see my reflection from my dresser mirror.  that way i have a mirror in the front and back.  once i've braided as far as i can and it's time to switch, instead of actually switching, i just hold it with my other hand, then reach over with my original braiding hand and continue.

i love me some swappy twirls!

pretty much the perfect twirling outfit.  it twirls perfectly, with a little bit of sheer-nesss.  hello girly, flowy twirl.  oh, how i've missed you.

i know, i've been 'slacking' with the posts this past week.  it's not that i haven't thought about writing and completely forgotten my blog.  it's that i've been busy after work.  since starting back on the treadmill, i'm back to feeling starved by suppertime, so when i get home, i'm immediately on the treadmill.  and honestly, you do NOT want me posting blog photos post run.

in other news, melissa and i had a wii & wine night on saturday with our mamas.  a post will follow later this week.  yes, we actually took pictures.  sometimes for two bloggers, we actually *forget* to take blog pictures.  are these pictures "blog" pictures? no. they're actually embarrassing pictures.  but, as bloggers, it's our duty to post them, right?  (you need to agree with me so that melissa forgives me for posting embarrassing pictures of us!!).

other exciting tidbits:
i LOVE these glasses.  no more headaches at work! well, almost none.  but definitely no more pulling eyes! it's amazing what a light Rx can do for you!
this weekend: star wars 3D! granted, it's episode I, which is my least favourite (Anakin kind of annoys me as a child)... but, lasers and light sabers in 3D? yes, i need to see it.  my mom is actually excited about it too.  apparently she's a closet geek! i'm so proud.
and finally: the sun was still up for pictures!  past 5:00pm! it's happening folks... daylight is staying!

geek girl...

did i mention i need reading glasses?  apparently 30 means falling apart...

just kidding!  i had reading glasses when i was in university as well.  my eyes strain too much when i'm reading/working at the computer for long periods of time; i feel them pulling, and it results in headaches.  so back to a light prescription i went.  just to help my eyes to relax a bit.  7.5 hours a day working at a computer, plus reading at night has it's toll on my eyes.

so with that, i ordered three pairs to try, all ray bans.  only one of the three ended up coming in, with one pair being discontinued, and them making a mistake and sending the wrong pair in lieu of one of the ones i chose...

these are the two pairs i received... can you take a guess as to which i actually wanted to try? and which i ordered??  i actually posted a collage with both pairs on my facebook to get people's opinions. i was surprised.  23 female votes for the the pair to the left.  1 female vote and about 8 male votes for the right!

which pair did i choose??

....

the left.  after trying them on in comfy clothes and my hair up, they were definitely the winners.  i didn't even like the other pair, so i was surprised when they got votes!  very un-me.

my glasses arrived on monday, so here's some photos of me sporting them at work this week!

i quite like them.

:)
