Winter Wednesday: 4

Welcome back to Winter Wednesday! I know I missed the third, but with Monday's "Merry Monday" post, technically we're back on track with the fourth Christmas Outfit post! You may recognize this dress from an earlier post. It was my bachelorette dress. I have to say, this dress was a great purchase! I almost didn't order it, thinking it would be too fancy for a bachelorette party (it wasn't), but I've worn it a few times since! It's so easy to dress up or down for events! I'm very tempted to order another Ophelia dress in either a pattern or another colour. As impractical as it would be with the other choices, the gold version would make a fabulous holiday dress!!

The girlies wanted to make a Christmas appearance on the blog. Sadie Diamond (on the left) is our newest family member. I'll do an official write up on her soon. It's an emotional one, and I haven't had the courage yet to share the story. And Lucy (right) is our lovable "Garfield-ette" kitty.

Ivory, green and gold is one of my favourite holiday combinations. I have this belt and shoes from a previous holiday outfit, which I paired with an ivory Heartbreaker dress. Sometimes it feels like such a splurge to buy event-specific items, but I almost always manage to wear everything again. This outfit is entirely made up of past-event-splurges!

I had to tough it out and wear this outside for some snow pictures. I love ivory, aka 'winter white' with a snowy backdrop. It definitely helps out the overall Holiday look.

Housewife Home Sweet Home...

Home Sweet Home indeed! These shoes were my wedding shoes and they were such a great purchase. So many people buy shoes they can only wear for the big day, or other formal events... but really, who has that many formal events to go to? I wanted these shoes. I needed these shoes. They were *perfect* for our backyard wedding! But the best part? Wearing my special-day shoes again and again. (Not to mention they also match the style of our house so well!)

These shoes. I mean really, they are gorgeous. And incredibly comfortable! They are just so cushion-y!! They were perfect shoes for a wedding day, but they're also super practical for everyday wear! Definitely an incentive to buy more Miss L Fire's, that's for sure! 

 Hendrix also decided to hop in for some true "Home Sweet Home"esque photos. Our furkids are snuggle-bugs, so I love when they decide to partake in my blog. Hendrix normally opts to wander around, and maybe just show his bum in the background (which I try to crop out), but there's the times when, if I'm sitting, he'll come sit with me. 

 I also have to add that I bought this dress two years ago, as it reminded me of a 50s housewife style of dress. I chose it for my first post-wedding outfit post for just that reason. I pictured wearing this dress while in the kitchen, baking some sweets. That's actually exactly what I did this week, in this dress. I'm so excited to be Dominic's wife, and just have that title, "Wife." I feel very house-wifey in this outfit, with our home in the background, and snuggles with our boy.

Cacti & raspberries...

I'm not going to lie... becoming a member of the Flock Together ladies definitely has it's perks! Getting to style new outfits without actually buying new items? Brilliant! It's especially fun when you get to try out styles that are out of your comfort zone.  When I spotted this top from Dus, I had to try it out. It was just so fun! Well, let me tell you, it was torture sending it back. I'm regretting that I didn't buy it from her fair trade shop, Mitla Moda.  It's so breezy! It would be amazing on hot days with a nice breeze.

When I styled this outfit and looked in the mirror, I immediately thought of a lady gardening, or shopping for flowers. Hence the photos in our raspberry bushes. They're finally starting to bud.  Spring is so late here this year, with the long winter we had.  And as you can spot in the background, Dominic has been a busy bee the last few weeks.  We purchased that parcel of land in January. It used to be filled with trees and shrubs, but he's been working hard to clear it out so it will become more useful for us.  I'm definitely looking forward to an extended backyard.  We'll eventually hang some hammocks, and make it a relaxing place to be!

What's better than adding polka dots with polka dots? Mixing them with three of my favourite colours! Red, yellow and mint... I love them all. So why not style them together??

These shoes are so old, and I've so rarely worn them in so long, that Dominic actually thought they were new! They're great shoes... red with polka dots and floral. What more could a girl possibly want in a shoe? I actually wore an outfit very similar to this last mother's day, and just switched out a few of my layers.  I definitely love this combo, and I need to wear it more often.

Spring Ahead!

In honour of spring officially being on it's way, what with the time change yesterday, I decided to pull out what of my all-time favourite spring outfits for today's post. I first saw these shorts on Tieka several years ago, and she styled them very similarly.  I just had to have the shorts, and style something similar!

Shorts with tights is one of my favourite spring and fall style.  I'm looking forward to the temperature warming up enough to start wearing them again! It's a pretty typical weekend look for me. Even in the summer when we head out in the morning when it's still cool outside. It's the perfect outfit for yard sailing, marketing, and thrifting!

Sweaters & Swedish Hasbeens...

Lately, every time we're about to take blog photos, this guy is there, sitting right by my feet. He's normally camera shy. At least, when I'm actually trying to get a picture of him, then he's camera shy.  But when he's not needed in the photo? Then he's just posing away.

This week, you may notice some new shoes in my posts. I've been wanting Swedish Hasbeens for years now, but I was never willing to pay the full price for them.  A few weeks ago, I noticed Amazon had GREAT prices on them. I decided it was finally time to order a pair!

I admit, I was skeptical about the clogs. Wooden soles? Comfortable? That doesn't sound right. But they actually are surprisingly comfortable. So comfortable that I actually ordered a second pair! (on amazon again, for another great price!).

I was pretty excited to find another dress to wear this sweater with! I normally paired it with my mint dress under it... but then I realized that it would be great paired with yellow too! I bought this sweater last year around this time from the lovely Marisa, and while I haven't blogged it (I don't think) I've worn it several times. It's so cute and warm, and I love how it can be paired with so many colours and patterns, and it just makes an ordinary outfit so much more fun!
