Remixing... part 2...

 as with my last post, this is another remix, but based on dresses (the first to come)...

one problem i face working in an office environment is having office appropriate outfits, but still in the style that i like... i don't actually buy 'work clothes'... my clothes are all every day pieces.

being 5'6" with a 33" inseam, sometimes i'm borderline with the length.  i find tights help with this problem, as they cover up the legs.  

in my first look, i'm wearing the woodbine floral dress from ruche.  i love it, but it's rather low cut and just borders my comfortable length.  the first time i wore it, i wore a tank under, but i didn't find it complimented the dress at all.  being that it's a floral multi-colour pattern, i decided to try pulling from those colours.  it's shown with two different pussy-bow blouses under, which i think is a perfect way to dress up a more casual dress.  having the sleeves peak out also add some interest to it.  in the first outfit, because i chose a bolder colour for the blouse, i stuck with very neutral tights.  in the second, i flipped it.  

my second remix is of the dover shift dress, again from ruche.  the first look is as it appeared in their lookbook, with a floral scarf and tights.  while i love this look, it's a bit too spring/summer for the winter seasons for my liking.  in the second photo, i kept the scarf to add a bit of pattern, but opted for khaki tights and a cream cardi, keeping the whole look very subtle.  in the third, i wore it as a layering piece.  with a sweater dress over, the lace detail of the dress just peaks out.  for a bolder statement, i opted for teal tights.

love day...

 a very happy valentine's day to you! 

i know, it's a day late.  i apologize.  i'd love to say my valentine's day was so incredibly romantic that i didn't get a chance to blog, but wow, is that so not the case.

this adorable outfit? that i had picked out for weeks?  i didn't actually get to wear it. as per my luck, i ended up being sick in bed.  it started monday night, and resulted in me staying in bed all day tuesday, in my pajamas... i eventually moved to the couch, and proceeded to watch one of my all time favourite movies, shag.

it's set in 1963, when four best friends go on a road trip to myrtle beach before they go off to college/get married... it was one of my favourite movies in junior high, that i used to watch at almost every sleepover with my besties.  it has cute outfits, awesome cars, cheesy punch lines ("this is the most fun" being one of the main cheesy lines!)... and lots of dancing!  i love it.

 on my sick day, i also attempted a threadsence hair tutorial.  i failed. big time.  i didn't attempt the fishtail, because i was already frustrated with just the pinning/tucking.  while i love my bangs, sometimes they can be the bane of my existence.  so uncooperative.

i'm basically in love with layering, if you haven't noticed. teeheehee

as i'm sure you can tell, i had a hair appointment last night.  i know, it's obvious every time i have one, because something is always different.  my bangs are shorter, due to the fact that i'm terrible at trimming them, and i wanted them to be a decent length for next weekend.  and my ombre bottom is a bit darker.  which i love.  i've been going a shade darker for the past few times, slowly getting braver and getting it smack on this time!  

also, i received me double velvet bow from red velvet yesterday!  had a bit of an issue getting it to stay in my fine hair, but after a helpful email from sweet emma, i got it!  it looks yellow in these pics, but it's just the lighting.  it's a nice cream, perfect with my green dress for christmas eve!! (my favourite day of the year).

today i had a serious case of the mondays. serious. i am *so happy* it's almost over.  complete with ruining my fave pair of tights. thank you hendrix.  i now agree with grampy, you are a shithead. (but i still love you)...

this week is a busy week!  work and home.  year end is always a crazy time of year.  mix that with everyone trying to get things done before the holidays, CRAZIER.  add to that trying to get all your personal christmas stuff done... yowza!  this week consists of baking, hair appointment, decorating at melissa's for avery's 2nd birthday party, the party itself, did i mention baking? then mailing?? yea, it's possible some people (ashley) won't be getting their christmas goodies before christmas.  i'm sorry.  

on that note, i haven't even taken my christmas photo with hendrix yet.  for someone who starts christmas season on november 12th, you'd think i'd be way more on the ball than i am.  i have no idea what's up this year.  note to self for next year: start earlier!!

please don't judge my dog by his collar... i know, it's in rough shape... he has a new one, but i'm saving it for christmas photos. he likes to play in the field/woods, so his collars tend to fray (see below)... and i want his new one to be fresh for photos. then, thankfully, he'll be stylin in his new tartan.

so this dog? total pest. whines all the time. always wants attention. torments his uncle (my parent's dog), hogs the bed, and the blankets... sometimes head bunts me when he leans back too fast for a snuggle. and the worst: when he rolls in his poop outside. i know, i dont get it either. this results in a bath, and a lecture, at which point i say repeatedly, "if it smells this bad to me, and you have heightened sense of smell, WHY do you do this??" i know. gross. (terrible two's possibly?)

but even with the bad, the good shines through...

he's great. he snuggles all the time. curls up and keeps me warm. gives me kisses every day. smiles at me when i get up in the morning, when i get home from work, and when i say 'hen coming to bed?'... he leans in for a hug, curls up on my lap, puts his head on my shoulder... he's one of my two best friends (post on best friend #2 coming up this week).

he's my #1 man.

this dress is a favourite of both melissa and myself. i regret not having bought it, and now there's none left in my size. it's such a great piece, and so versatile. not to mention it twirls really nicely!!

both of my looks are from the hot summer months, sans tights. that's a hint melissa, i need to borrow this dress again!!
